Why Every Cleaning Business Needs Written Agreements
Verbal handshakes often lead to unpaid lockouts, disputes over pet damage, and scope creep (e.g., expecting oven scrubbing without extra compensation). A simple, transparent 1-page agreement sets mutual expectations before cleaners step through the front door.
The Contract Revenue Protection Formula
\text{Contracted Lockout Fee} = \text{Standard Visit Rate} \times 0.50
\text{Net Operating Protection} = \text{Lockout Fee} - \text{Direct Transit Burden}
• 24-Hour Notice Window: Standard across 92% of residential housekeeping operations to allow re-scheduling backup routes.
• Lockout Protection: Without a written contract, unnotified locked gates or missed keys cost cleaning businesses an average of $85 to $120 per occurrence in wasted labor.
• Limitation of Liability: Protects cleaners against false breakage claims on pre-damaged furnishings or antique items.
